About Me

My name is Ricky Tang, a Software Engineering student at University of Waterloo, working on autonomy team for drones at Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group (WARG).

I build tools that solve issues I actually encounter, and they become part of my daily workflow. Whenever I see a cool and novel tech stack, I can't help myself but start a project with it immediately. I prefer building something new everytime, rather than repeating the same techs.

Hackathons are where I thrive. I enjoy getting into flow state to ship something that works well and fix stuff with pressure. I'm not satisfied until my projects become tools I actually use every day.

Computer vision is where I get especially excited about: object detection, real-time image processing, spatial understanding. It's always satisfying to make machines understand the visual world via code.
